Anish Kapoor - Leviathan, 2011 | More posts
Rather than lapse into cynicism and self-flagellation, I try to view every poor decision I make these days through the lens of a “learning experience”, and as a result I’ve found I’m beginning to draw strength from the refinement of my sense of purpose and self, even if this refinement came about through the thorny, circuitous route of stripping away all they are not.
I think I can safely say that I have a much clearer sense of how I am viewed by my friends who grew up in tough circumstances, and I wish I’d developed this perspective before some of these relationships evaporated.
I love my family and feel profoundly grateful for every moment of peace, reflection and security I’ve ever been afforded. There are few things I truly desire now outside the company of close friends in an intimate setting, and hopefully this is a sign that I’m becoming more willing to let go of the unimportant and the distracting.
Sincerely,
SMB
